🙏Abide with me – Christian Hymn🙏

Abide with me is a Christian hymn written by the Anglican Scotsman Henry Francis Lyte.

Lyte wrote the poem in 1847 and set it to music while dying of tuberculosis. He survived only three more weeks after its completion.

The hymn is part of the Christian and traditional musical legacy in English-speaking countries, and has often been used in film and TV productions, as well as public events. In July 2012 it was sung by Scotland’s Emeli Sandé at the opening of the London Olympics.

In its original version, "Abide with me" is usually sung to the tune of the hymn "Eventide" by William Henry Monk. In Portuguese, it is present in the hymnals of the different Christian denominations in several versions, as well as "Eventide", used to set other hymns to music.
