Georg F. Händel (1685-1759) is the writer of some spectacular organ concertos, such as this one, HWV. 289 (Op. 4 n. 1). 289 (Op. 4 n. 1). The sonority of the concerto was purposely designed for the pipe organ, which vibrates with the scales and presents the listener with major harmonies at the end of each movement.

This composition, originally played during the intervals of the ode Alexander's Feast, is an excellent piece of classical music interpreted here on the first pipe organ of the Heralds of the Gospel, located in our formation house in São Paulo, Brazil, built by the master organ-builder Edson Groth.

Georg Friedrich Händel was a German composer who became a British citizen in 1726. From an early age, he showed remarkable musical talent, and even despite the opposition of his father, who wanted him a lawyer, he managed to receive qualified training in the art of music. In addition, he had an impressive facility for composing, sometimes composing faster than his librettists could provide him with the text for his operas and oratorios.

Quartet N. 4 in A Major, K.298 | Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

The elegance of W. A, Mozart (1756-1791) is presented to us in an excerpt from one of his quartets for transverse flute. The innocent and calm melody receives a dynamism proper to childhood in its second movement, when the harmony plays with the melody in a more rhythmic and lively tempo.

The Vienna of the 18th century, full of life, harmonious and joyful, welcoming and friendly, was probably one of the most musical cities in Europe at its time. It is enough to say that it gave birth to the one who is considered the "king of music": Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a composer who certainly knew, more than any other, how to express in music the good values of his century: delicacy, gentleness and innocent nobility.

Mozart's "Quartet in A Major," composed in Vienna in August 1773 and performed here by the Heralds of the Gospel, is the first of the three movements of this quartet.

IL GARDELLINO - Cantabile - Antonio Vivaldi

Throughout his career, Antonio Vivaldi showed an interest in pictorial representations, as in the case of the Four Seasons.

In the Flute Concerto, Op.10 no. 3 - Il Gardellino, he presents the song of the goldfinch, not as an exact representation - as Messiaen would do later - but in a stylized version, with many trills, repeated notes and arpeggios.

The bird's song is presented in the extreme movements, which begin and end the piece.

However, in the enchanting central movement, the Cantabile, which is played here by a member of the Heralds of the Gospel, the bird is absent. The atmosphere is pastoral: the flute presents a tender melody. The accompaniment is limited here to the continuous sound of the harpsichord.

L'Estro Armonico Op 3 Concerto nº 9 l Antonio Vivaldi

Intended for organ and written by Antonio Vivaldi, the same composer of the famous "Four Seasons" symphonies, the L'Estro Armonico, Op. 3. Concerto No. 9, is a piece that brings a quiet joy to the listener, the result of the fast high notes with the constant playing of the low notes.

The composer and musician Antonio Vivaldi was born in Venice in the 17th century. Having composed in the Baroque period, we can note the classic explosion of arpeggios and flourishes in his music. Vivaldi composed several concertos for the organ, L'Estro Armonico being one of his best-known.

By writing a fast melody in the high register, he emphasises the bouncy joy of children and young people. By making a counterpoint with the steady, harmonic sound of the bass accompaniment, Vivaldi highlights the maturity of the older and more responsible, and brings the two parts into harmony. His genius will be forever remembered in our history in the concertos he composed for the organ, with details and arpeggios that catch our attention to this day.
